... What I am reading or have read.

Clive Cussler

I started reading Clive Cussler books about 20 years ago. If I remember correctly, I bought one of his books and ran off on a cruise. That started it all. He has since become my favorite writer. His books are like a vacation, they take you away into adventures that you could never dream. One of his hooks is to take a real actual event and build a fictional story around it. He does this so well it is hard to tell where the line is between the real and fiction. Cussler's books are the perfect vacation or cruise novel. They are fast paced, interesting and a very easy read.

I have read more Clive Cussler books than any other one author. Here are the Cussler books I have read:

The Dirk Pitt Adventures Series - more than 21+ books

The Oregon Files Series - 8+ series

The Numa Files Series - 9+ series

The Fargo Adventure Series

The Isaac Bell Series

New Clive Cussler books and those on the way:

Matthew Reilly

Now here's a guy that can write an action novel. His works are so fast paced that they literally grab you up and throw you around. I started reading Matthew Reilly books only a few years ago as a break from Clive Cussler books. I noticed Reilly's books because Cussler had commented on one of them.

Reilly has a knack for detail, especially his newest books. If you want a thrill ride in a book, this is the guy to read.

Here are the Matthew Reilly books I have read:

The Jack West, Jr. Series

The Scarecrow Series

Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child

These two collaborators turn out some fantastic books. They weave a sticky net of reality and the supernatural that just sucks you in and does not let go. I dearly love some of their great characters such as Agent Pendergast, Margo Green and of course everyone's favorite NY City cop D'Agosta.

Here are the Preston and Child books I have read:

  • The Relic - This was the first Preston and Child book.
  • The Cabinet of Curiosities - This was the first Preston and Child book I read. Ade Shamblin recommended it and was he ever so right.
  • Mount Dragon - My second Preston and Child book. Not as good as the first but still interesting.
  • Cemetery Dance - My third read of Preston and Child and the best so far!
  • Wheel of Darkness - A real thriller that keeps you wondering right to the end.
  • Brimstone - the first book of the Diogenes Trilogy.
  • Dance of Death - the second book of the Diogenes Trilogy.
  • The Book of the Dead. This is the third and last book of the Diogenes Trilogy.
  • Fever Dream. A continuation of the Pendergast novels. Answers the questions regarding the death of Agent Pendergast's wife.
  • Cold Vengeance. A continuation of the Pendergast novels. He finds that his wife, Helen, was murdered, Special Agent Pendergast must have retribution. But revenge is not simple.

Here are the Douglas Preston books I have read:

  • Blasphemy - a wonderful read regarding the clashing of religion and technology and the strong feeling on both sides.
  • Impact - a nice read about a deadly threat from beyond our Solar System.
